"The Trooper" is a song by the English heavy metal band Iron Maiden. It was released as the 2nd single on 20 June 1983 from the band's fourth studio anthology, Slice of Mind (1983). Northern Ireland [edit]
During the grade of the Troubles in Northern Ireland the prototype of Eddie, as he appears on the sleeve of "The Trooper", became an unofficial mascot of the Ulster Freedom Fighters loyalist paramilitary group and was the main figure on a number of the group'due south murals.
